A Little Bit About Skipper Creek Rare Breed Poultry

Skipper Creek has been raising and breeding Rare Breed Poultry since 2015.  Our poultry peeps are hatched in controlled temperature incubators, are hand-raised indoors under heat, are removed from heat around four weeks of age, and are moved outside to grow out pens after 12-16 weeks of age, depending on the time of year and current temperatures.   Our adult flock have their own separate coops, by breed, and we have many coops!

Chicks are available shortly after hatch and are offered as straight-run (unsexed), unless they are an auto-sexing breed (Cream Legbar, Bielefelder).  While we do not currently ship chicks, they are available for local pickup.  For biosecurity measures, we only meet customers off-site.  We also have fertilized hatching eggs, which are typically offered in assortments only and availability is based on what the girls lay, and those are available for shipping.

To ensure our Rare Breed Poultry thrives for generations to come, we often only sell pairs and trios once the flock reaches full mating maturity, but single Hens or Roos are occasionally available as well.  We practice genetic diversity in our adult flock to ensure breeding opportunities in the offspring chicks we offer.

Poultry Prices range from $5-$75, or more, depending on the breed, age and sex.  While we cannot guarantee all poultry will be show-quality, many of our flock have won Blue Ribbons, Best of Breed and Best of Show honors.

We are not a hatchery - we are poultry enthusiasts and hobbyists, just like our customers, and we take pride in raising, nurturing and protecting our purebred flock.
